Rob Stewart accomplished so much in his life, but there’s still more to do. To honour Rob’s memory, the Stewart family is collecting donations in order to continue his conservation work. You can help by visiting robstewartsharkwaterfoundation.org. A tax receipt will be issued.
I had the pleasure of meeting Rob several years ago at the Tropic Cinema in Key West where his “Sharkwater” was showing. After the film, he was autographing movie posters and I told him how much my daughter who was away at school for the first time, would appreciate his film as she loved the ocean. He proceeded to write a personal encouraging message to her on the poster. This is a terrible loss that greatly saddens me. Hopefully his associates will be able to put together the sequel he was working on. Love and sympathy to family and friends.
So sad that this man is gone ?? The most inspiring conservationist of my generation, he taught me to appreciate and trust sharks so much that I immediately joined a shark dive in South Africa after seeing his documentary in 2007. An experience I’ll never ever forget. Like everyone else who didn’t personally know Rob, he still had the amazing spirit and passion to leave such a mark on me. Mother Nature will miss him greatly. His legacy will live on forever through his wonderful friends and everyone he inspired along the way. He left this world a much better place, and I will spend my life trying to do the same.
Rob’s Instagram was the first shark page I started following. Because of him, I now have a great love and respect towards sharks. I am deeply saddened by his passing, but I’m happy he was doing what he loved. He will not be forgotten.
A profound ammiration to Rob, the man who contributes to help planet Earth. He changed my point of view on sharks and marine life even, though I dived since Rob was a kid. The whole Earth miss you, Rob.

Can’t believe he’s gone… I was 10 when I first saw Sharkwater, I was very impressed and I realized that something had to be done. I can say that Rob Stewart has been my first inspiration in taking action to help preserving marine life.
So thank you Rob , you were you are and you’ll be a leader for millions of people.
Rest in peace
Deeply saddened by this tragic news. Hope you can now dive forever wherever you are Rob! You will be missed on this planet!
I have always been interested in nature and discovering. I am a 90’s “kid” and im now studying to a biologist and i have seen some of the black markets with animals and the exploratation of the sea and it’s destructivity, so it was easy to relate to the cases. Rob liked to explore and he did important things and people must watch his great movies to understand the case we are facing better. It shocked me and I became really sad when i saw the news about Rob’s diving accident. He was such an inspiring and caring person. – We will continue his work and carry on his legasy. His mission will never be forgotten!
(Rest in Peace)
Regards Vincent Haraldsson.
An incredible life taken much too soon! The ocean seems fitting, though it doesn’t distract us from this loss. Now, more than ever, his message will be heard and individuals will being to make smarter choices and pressure their governments. Teachers will inspire children with him message and the future generations may not allow corruption to flow seamlessly in our society. Rob started something huge. It’s our turn to take the reins and make a change.
What to say ?
The loss of Rob Stewart came as the choc to me. I’ve never met him but never stop admiring his work since i discovered him, watching Sharkwater.
There are few people who goes so far, following their convictions. He was one of them, so precious for this world.
I hope his family and friend could find a little bit of comfort, knowing how important his work was and admired he was.
From France, i send my condolances and think of him a lot.
